Ptaki, which means “Birds” in Polish, is a mysterious duo of DJs and producers of sample-based house music hailing from Warsaw. They emerged in 2013 on the very first Sampler of Zambon, The Very Polish Cut-Outs, with two excellent reworks based on obscure Polish records from the 80s, “Marek” and “Krystyna“. They instantly gained international recognition, with early support from the likes of Soft Rocks, Coyote, Phil South (of Golf Channel fame) and Rune Lindbaek, as well as getting airplay from Eddie C on Tim Sweeney‘s Beats In Space radio show. Very sought after since, this record has just been repressed. They then released various edits and remixes on labels such as Rhythm Section International, Coyote‘s Magic Wand and Glenview Records Inc., and dropped their first EP of original material in October 2014 on Young Adults, “Kalina”, which included the dreamlike and mighty slice of deep-house “Ska?a”, featured in Coyote‘s mix LYO#040. Now supported by Jazzanova, Jose Padilla and Mark E to name but a few, the duo is currently working on their much awaited debut LP, to be released on Transatlantyk very soon. Ptaki is one of the big names to have come out of the new Polish dance scene in recent years, so we’re really chuffed that they got on board and did this mix #043 for us, where you’ll find all sorts of old school and modern house brilliantly orchestrated.
